An excellent RPG which in many ways is more Fable 2.0 than Fable 2

I found the original fable to be a highly enjoyable RPG, however it was to some people dissapointing largely because many features promised to be in the game where lacking, this time round there has been far less hype and so less reason to be dissapointed. The first things that struck me when playing where just how easy to pick up and play the game was and just how similar in style (graphics and gameplay) it was to the original fable. That is not to say that the graphics are bad on the contrary the graphics are excellent and are some of the best I have seen so far on the 360.

As you play though the game more it becomes clear that some of your actions impact the games environment and your actions in the prologue/tutorial have a direct impact on how Bowestone Old Town looks after the prologue ends. The main storyline is relatively short and can probably be finished in less than 12 hours play, there is however much more than the main quest to keep you busy, be it exploring and doing side quests or just going for completion, or replaying the game taking a different moral path.

While on the whole I found the game enjoyable there are a number of bugs present in the game that are irritating and hopefully will be patched soon, these include, the being unable to sleep while on a main quest bug and the dissapearing wife bug. The main “flaw” with Fable 2 though is nothing to do with the game itself though, but with the timing of its release as it is too close in time to Fallout 3 which may be even better than Fable 2 (find out next week). Even so, this is the best RPG to be released on the Xbox 360 since Mass Effect last year

4/5 – One of the best RPGs on the Xbox 360
